Latest Board Briefing now available

We value openness here at Taff, and want to make sure our decision making is visible and transparent. Each month after our Board Meeting, we will summarise decisions made in a 'Board Briefing', which can be found in the 'About Us' section of the website.

Taff Launches New Website!

Welcome to our new look website! We hope you like the look and functionality of the site, which was designed by Carrick Limited and built by Feracity. The brief and content were developed after extensive consultation with staff and service users. The images used are of Taff Customers, as we wanted the website to reflect our main focus.

We will shortly be adding a 'My Taff' capability to the site, so Tenants will be able to manage certain elements of their tenancy, like getting up to date rent statements on-line, for example. The site contains many accessibility features, like 'Browse Aloud' which reads out web pages for those with visual difficulties or literacy issues.

One of the main features is the ability to feedback to us on services, features, events etc - we will use the feedback to continue improving our work. Our 'You said, we did' board in reception will be replicated on-line, so Customers can see how their feedback makes a difference.

We will also be publishing details of Gifts & Hospitality, and Declarations of Interest by senior staff, to ensure we live up to our value of 'Openness' in matters of probity.

Older People Tame Technology at Taff

Taming TechnologyOver 60 older people from across Cardiff came to Taff's 'Taming Technology' Day held at our headquarters in Canton.

Staff volunteered their time to give one-to-one coaching on everything from using mobile phones and Skype, to basic computer skills, how to shop safely on the internet and how to operate digital cameras. 'It was one of the most successful events we've ever held' says Elaine Ballard, Chief Executive. 'We know even some of the simple things can be daunting, so this was a great opportunity to ask someone what to do'.

One participant had several texts received from family and friends at Christmas on his mobile phone - he didn't know how to reply. Within minutes of chatting to staff, he was in full flow, texting to his contacts, and surprising them with his new found skill.

Another lady got a 'Well done, Mum!' text back from her daughter after sending her first ever message from her phone. 'Can we have one of these every week?' was the comment from one gentleman, and staff were besieged by requests for further events like this. 'Taff will definitely be looking for more new ideas to provide services and one-off events for older people in the future,' says Elaine Ballard. Anyone with suggestions can contact us here info@taffhousing.co.uk. We'd really like to thank SFX, a community based Computer Project, Digital Switchover, and Cardiff Community Alarm for their support of this event, and a special thanks to Kerryn, a young lady from one of our Support Projects, who helped with the mobile phone tutorials.
