Tackle Noise Nuisance using the new Noise App!

The Noise App

Taff has partnered with the Noise App to make reporting noise nuisance much easier and quicker!

Noise nuisance is the most common neighbour complaint we deal with. Last year we investigated 51 cases of noise nuisance and often had to rely on victims using diary sheets to describe the nuisance they were suffering from. The Noise App enables you to demonstrate what kind of noise you are experiencing and you can do it all on your phone.

How does it work?

STEP 1 - Download the free app from or search ‘The Noise App’ on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
STEP 2 - Create your account and choose Taff as the Service Provider to investigate your noise nuisance reports
STEP 3 - To report a nuisance simply tap the icon, make a 30-second recording of the noise, complete a form and submit your report online.
STEP 4 – Your report will be sent securely and logged with The Noise App. Your Housing Officer will be notified that you have made a noise nuisance report and will be able to listen to the recording.
STEP 5 – We will contact you to discuss the complaint.


What will Taff do with the evidence? 

We will agree an action plan with you and in cases where you give us permission, we will speak with the person causing the noise. Often the noise nuisance will reduce after that, but if it does not we can take further action if we have clear evidence. We anticipate the noise app will enable us to identify and take action against persistent perpetrators of noise nuisance.

Is there any noise that we cannot take action over?

Yes, general living noise such as talking, walking around, and noise from children or watching TV or listening to music at a normal level is considered acceptable living noise and we will not investigate these reports. We will only make this decision once we have spoken to you and considered how the noise is affecting you.


What if I don’t have a smartphone?

Taff may be able to loan you a phone for the purpose of recording the noise nuisance issues. You will usually require a wifi connection, however if you do not have this, please speak to us about how we can help you.
