We want to help our Tenants achieve their ambitions. For some, taking part in training or fund activities with other people is the start of that. It’s not just about qualifications; it can be about building up confidence so that they are ready to try new things.
At Taff we regularly hold free training in things ranging from Social Science to Job Skills. Attending courses looks great on a CV or job applications and is also a great way to meet new people and make friends.
Tenants tell us that they would like a qualification at the end of their training so wherever possible our training is accredited (nationally recognised). Some courses can also help Tenants take a step closer to getting a place at a college or university course.
Before I started the IT training course held at Taff I had never even turned a computer on! I heard that most things are done online these days, but I had no idea where to start! I decided to sign up for Taff’s IT training course to find out more. I’m so glad I did! I have now learnt how to research things online, pay bills and even email my friends abroad. It’s been great being able to get online, there are so many things I can do now that I couldn’t do before.
“My family and I are very involved Taff Tenants. My husband started training at Taff several years ago, initially getting involved through the community allotment. He recommended volunteering at Taff to my daughter, who after volunteering on the finance department was offered a Finance job at Legal and General. I decided I wanted to get involved too! I have really enjoyed learning and have completed several training courses. At the end of the Childcare course, I was offered a volunteer placement at a local nursery, one of Taff’s community partners. I have just completed a Child Play course and look forward to starting the Child Psychology course at Taff soon. I love volunteering, it has made me feel more inspired and empowered.”
